The remaining members of Magnolia Electric Co. joined Will Johnson in 2025 to perform as Magnolia & Johnson Electric Co., revisiting favourites and deep cuts from Jason Molina’s Songs:Ohia and Magnolia Electric Co. catalogue. Texas Four Step draws on recordings from their first four shows in Texas in September 2025, paying tribute to their friend and bringing his songs to new listeners.
Johnson previously wrote and recorded with Molina on the 2009 collaborative album Molina & Johnson. Known for fronting Centro-matic and for his solo work, including 2025’s Diamond City, he is also a member of Jason Isbell’s The 400 Unit. These performances reunite musicians with a close connection to Molina’s music, from ‘Hold On Magnolia’ and ‘Just Be Simple’ to ‘Farewell Transmission’.
The double-LP edition is pressed on Baby Blue Vinyl. A single-CD edition is also available.
