classic euro bowie
although the running time is short, this cd effectively shows off the late 70's european artistic side of Bowie. It contains trax from between 1976- 1979. Amongst the treasures are the now deleted live 'Stage' version of 'Station to station' and the rare and brilliant 7" US single mix of 'Stay' never released on cd before.

bought instead of heroes
bought this really because i didnt want to buy heroes cd.not that much into heroes album and only wanted a few of the tracks which are on here,noteably.v2 shneider and sense of doubt and in my opinion a better version of heroes as this is the german one helden.its also got a great single version of stay.this would be a great buy for people who are just getting to grips with bowie as it includes a good variation of tracks from his berlin period.

Vintage Berlin Bowie
You can ge most of these tracks on other albums but theres a well rounded selection of late 70s Bowie here, perhaps because it was used as a film score.

A love affair between the artist and Berlin was no great surprise given the art-on-thier-sleeve style of both, and given that punk was happening around the same time these songs were written he does a good job of capturing an alternative urban sound.

After 1980 he rarely turned out anything of quality in my humble opinion, but this is Bowie at his best.

Great sampler/compilation of Berlin-era Bowie.
The film can't be praised highly enough(buy now if you haven't already got it)and the soundtrack is great too.Bowie was living and working in Berlin when the events in this film took place, and when the film was being made,so the music is very reminiscent of the walled city in the late 1970's.Most of the material on it is available elsewhere(except for the German-language version of "Heroes",and an odd 45 US-only version of "Stay")but this compilation is worth hearing.

Rerelease of 1981 soundtrack
This soundtrack to the movie Christiane F., wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo of 1981 (about a young junkie girl in Berlin in the late seventies - never shown on TV, I wonder why), is a rerelease of the album that appeared in the same year. It contains a collection of strong songs and instrumental tracks from Station to Station and from the Berlin Trilogy Low, Heroes and Lodger. The atmosphere of the soundtrack, like the movie, is somewhat gloomy: especially the song Sense of doubt with its moaning in the background will always remind me of the movie now (was it played under the scene of the two teenage junkies suffering from cold turkey?).

I bought the soundtrack when the film came out. At the time I had just discovered David Bowie's music and I did not know the records from which these songs had been taken. The selection impressed me very much. The soundtrack is a good introduction to four of the better albums of David Bowie for people who don't know much of his music yet. Still, knowing better now, I would recommend you to buy the original albums instead. The only bonus track on Christiane F. is an English/German version of Heroes and that is hardly a reason for purchasing it.
